Positive Solutions Counseling Center

When you are looking for positive solutions to life’s challenges

Established in 1997 to provide quality, affordable counseling services by
 caring,  skilled Licensed Psychotherapists

In addition to individual, couples, and family counseling services, Positive Solutions Counseling Center offers innovative groups, classes and workshops that are both educational and therapeutic.  Children and Teen Groups presently being formed include:

Children of Divorce Group (ages 7-10) and (ages 11-13)

This group helps your child address the issues often experienced by children of divorce including:  loyalty issues, blaming self, custody and visitation legal battles, loss of stability, multiple life changes, and witnessing parent conflicts.  This group helps the children appropriately express their feelings, and experiences with peers that they may not express to the adults in their lives.

Social Skills Group (ages 6-8) and ages (9-11)

This group helps children who are struggling with peer relationships that can affect their self esteem, leave them vulnerable to bullying, and impact social interactions over time.  Skills your child will learn include:  assertiveness, anger management, conflict resolution, and valuing self.
The group advantage allows the Counselor to identify specific social skill problems for each child as they occur in the group, and teach appropriate responses.

Teen Issues Group (ages 12-14) and (15-17)

This group is designed to give teens an opportunity to address their issues with a peer group in a setting that will help them make healthier choices.  Teens are influenced by other teens.  Teen issues today are a mix of the norm we all went through, and issues unique to this techno generation, like cyber-bullies.
More teens are experiencing severe depression, suicidal thoughts, anxiety, cutting, eating disorders, sexual abuse, substance abuse, and sexual pressures at very young ages.

Early intervention is key.

New groups, classes and workshops may be added based on needs and interest.  If you have a specific group, class, or workshop you are looking for, and don’t see it offered here, let us know.
